Under the direction of the Department Chairperson, instructs primarily for laboratory courses in Exercise Science. Major teaching responsibilities may include (but are not limited to): Exercise Physiology Lab, Biomechanics lab, and Fitness for Life. Perform other duties associated with teaching, departmental and college responsibilities, and other duties as assigned and described in the faculty handbook.
Graduation from a regionally accredited institution with an appropriate degree in a related field to the coursework being taught. Knowledge and skill in current instructional theories, strategies, techniques, and discipline content. See preferred qualifications for discipline or program-specific minimum qualifications.
Master of Science degree or higher in Exercise Science or a related field from an accredited institution. Demonstrable evidence of at least two semesters of successful teaching in the discipline. Proficiency in exercise science instructional and laboratory techniques with evidence of student-oriented approach to teaching as demonstrated through teaching evaluations.
Knowledge of Exercise Science laboratory techniques and course content. Knowledge of instructional strategies and techniques. Knowledge of program and curriculum development. Knowledge of measurement and evaluation.
Skill in student management, motivation and evaluation. Proficiency in use of technology.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Effective interpersonal, problem solving and decision-making skills.
