The Program Coordinator is a member of the office of Student Activities and the Cliff Alexander Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life within the Division of Student Affairs. The Program Coordinator reports to the Associate Director of Student Activities and the Cliff Alexander Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life and works with colleagues and stakeholders in the enhancement of student engagement at Miami University as stated in the university goal of developing a “Model Greek Community.” The Program Coordinator is responsible for supporting and enhancing leadership to the University’s fraternity and sorority community and Student Activities in addition to developing and leading a cohesive approach to department marketing and assessment initiatives.

Duties

Responsibilities related to Programming: 

  • Serve as Office lead on developing and facilitating all programming as it pertains to prevention education and social responsibility for all student organizations
  • Oversee the Student Engagement and Leadership Celebration – the annual awards ceremony. Work in collaboration with staff and offices around campus to implement the event including coordinating the online awards submissions and event planning of the ceremony
  • Oversee the Community Advancement Recognition Program for the Fraternity and Sorority Community – including coordinating the online submission, tracking, and assessment of the program, managing the student review board, and facilitating all training and educations sessions for the program
  • Support the planning and implementation of annual leadership programs, training and development, including but not limited to the Greek Leadership Advance, Council Executive Board Retreat, Acropolis, and various officer and leadership retreats

Responsibilities related to Advising:  

  • Serve as student organization advisor to the SLANT Design Team – a student marketing organization that prepares and designs marketing materials and initiatives for the office and other student organizations
  • Serve as a chapter services liaison, providing advising and leadership development to a variety of chapters from IFC, Panhellenic and NPHC organizations
  • Advise GAMMA (Greeks Advocating for the Mature Management of Alcohol)
  • Advise the Greek Marketing Committee
  • Advise Fraternity and Sorority Council PR Officers and Miami Activities & Programming Marketing Officers

Responsibilities related to Overall Office Collaboration and Support:

  • Oversee production, editing, and design of all office-wide publications
  • Oversee and conduct assessment and evaluation initiatives for the office including holding Pre- and Post- meetings with staff to review and assess results
  • Work with Student Activities and Fraternity & Sorority Life team to collect, track, and analyze data and best practices in order to develop new recommendations for office initiatives
  • Administer the EBI Student Org. Leader Survey and Student Activities Learning Outcomes Survey
  • Coordinate and collaborate on office wide large-scale programming including: Welcome Week’s Mega Fair, SEAL Celebration (Annual Awards), Family Weekend, and Late Night Miami initiatives
  • Serve on the Hazing Prevention Programming Committee
  • • Provide leadership for the Student Activities and Cliff Alexander Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life in establishing and fulfilling its mission and goals; and in conducting daily operations and responsibilities
  • Assist in supporting and establishing annual and long-range department goals
  • Support, nurture, and maintain regular and collaborative relationships within the Division of Student Affairs and other University offices
  • Other duties as assigned, provided they support the mission of the Student Activities  and Cliff Alexander Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life and Leadership

Minimum Qualifications

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in College Student Personnel or related field
  • Graduate or professional experience in fraternity and sorority advising, student organization advising, program/event planning, leadership development, alcohol education and/or hazing prevention is preferred
  • Willingness to work in a team and collaborative environment
  • Must possess strong written and oral communication skills
  • Must possess strong computer competence, including but not limited to word, excel, and social media and marketing mediums
  • Willingness to work irregular hours including evenings and weekends
