About the Position:
Under the direction of the Campus President, the Vice President for International Development is responsible for providing vision, leadership, and direction for the International Development office and the integration of global education competencies throughout the College. This position handles multiple responsibilities, solves complex problems, and is open to constant challenge and change.

Duties and Responsibilities
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
• Support International Students – The Vice President will provide assistance, support and guidance to international students and college areas working with these students, to ensure regulatory compliance, personal and academic support, active engagement in activities and a safe learning environment for Pima’s international student population.
• Provide Strategic Planning – The Vice President must develop and maintain a clear plan for the office and international efforts at the College. Those that are responsible for its success – international instructors, staff, college leadership and international partners – participate in its formation and are in agreement with the major elements of these efforts.
• Develop Key Relationships – The success of the Pima Community College International Program is dependent on the relationships that support its goals. In this regard, the Vice President must personally develop key relationships with educational partners abroad and in the U.S., college leadership, instructors, staff, community members, and others that support the mission. The incumbent must also establish an ethic within the International Program that others equally value and develop such relationships.
• Recruit International Students – Active recruitment is necessary for the International Program’s success. Accordingly, the Vice President must ensure the success of this area by leading others and actively recruiting international students, both to help bring sufficient numbers to the College and to demonstrate for the organization the importance of the recruitment function.
• Help Build or Develop New Educational and Support Programs – For the Pima Community College International Program to be competitive, it must remain current through the development of new educational programs and services. To that end, the Vice President must lead this effort personally and in encouraging and supporting others to do likewise.
• Promote Advocacy and Leadership in an Attempt to Improve the College’s Recruitment Environment – The success of the Pima Community College International Program is partly dependent on outside factors such as the U.S. student visa climate, agency regulation, top university transfer propensities, environment for grants and other major “externals”. The Vice President must direct the International Program energy to advocate for the College in these issues, as well as others also affecting the success of the program.
• International Program Branding – The Vice President is responsible for ensuring the promotion, branding, and advertising of Pima Community College in key international markets to facilitate the direct recruitment and support of international students.
• Developing Global Perspectives – The Vice President will work with faculty and staff to infuse a global perspective throughout the campus, both inside and outside the classroom that will support the College’s global education goals and general education outcomes.
• Study Abroad Programs – The Vice President will support the development of educational opportunities abroad for Pima Community College students. Additionally, support will be provided for Pima students both as they are preparing for and engaging in their study abroad.
• Entrepreneurial Development – The Vice President will further international education at the College through research and proposal writing, liaison with external contacts, workshop planning, developing new revenue streams and effective budgeting that maximizes the return on this investment for the College’s students and community.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities
• Ensure that the College complies with all state, federal, and Higher Learning Commission policies and requirements
• Recognize and create opportunities in response to emerging business and educational trends
• Create and maintain a high level of staff morale conducive to the development of instructional and service innovations
• Create a culture of collaboration utilizing data informed decision making leading to increased student enrollment, retention, and completion.
• Develop and manage instructional operating budgets and yearly instructional capital budget requests
• Prepare and analyze administrative and statistical reports, statements, and correspondence
• Develop and lead collaborative, cross-functional teams required to achieve program goals and objectives for assigned areas
The Vice President for International Development exercises supervision through those individuals who report directly (and indirectly) within the College. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with College polices and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• Master's degree in international relations, international affairs, or a related discipline and
• Five years of progressively responsible management and leadership experience in the areas of international programming, international affairs, and campus administration at the college or university level
• Candidates who possess similar minimum objective qualifications are encouraged to apply and should describe in detail the work experience and education you regard as establishing the equivalency
The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
• Overseas living and/or educational experience
• Experience working with international students in a college or university environment
• Ability to travel internationally two to three months per year
• Ability to socialize, recruit and otherwise perform in a wide variety of business, cultural and linguistic environments
• Apply innovative and creative techniques and practices applicable to problem resolution and decision making
• Academic and administrative leadership, direction, and vision in program development
• Develop and maintain cross-discipline/cross-functional communications, collaborations, and relationships
• Identify, develop, and obtain external funding sources for the campus and district
• Develop, interpret, and apply goals, objectives, policies, procedures, rules and regulations
• Project a strong positive image of the College with parents, students, faculty, staff and the community
• Strong oral and written communication
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Monitor, evaluate, prioritize and assign work to staff
• Analyze problems and identify solutions and implement recommendations in support of goals
• Commitment to work in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, families, faculty, and staff
