Detailed Job Description

Academic advisor (50% FTE), College of Agricultural Sciences (COAS), Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Effective as soon as possible.

Responsibilities: The incumbent will report to the Associate Dean/Assistant to the Dean and primarily be responsible for continuous, conscientious file management, academic advising, mentoring, registration, and retention of all undergraduate students in the college. Additionally, the selected individual will work as part of the COAS Student Success team on various related projects and initiatives and utilize Student Services software programs including but not limited to Banner System, Argos, SalukiNet, Hobsons, and others as needed.

Qualifications: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Sciences or related field; minimum of one year experience with students in some area of advising (such as high school academic counselor), teaching, and/or recruitment (two or more years), excellent interpersonal skills, work effectively with students, faculty, and administration. Knowledge of undergraduate academic policies and procedures in agricultural sciences is required.
