The Department of Mechanical Engineering and Energy Processes at Southern Illinois University Carbondale seeks applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the level of Assistant Professor starting August 16, 2016. Applications in all fields of Mechanical Engineering will be entertained although preference will be given to candidates with specialization in the areas of additive manufacturing, advanced combustion systems, and design of materials. A successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate engineering classes, advise undergraduate and graduate students, and develop strong externally-funded research programs. This position is contingent on available funding.
Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or related areas is required. Applicants must have teaching competency in several required courses at the undergraduate level. Applicants must have the potential to develop a strong publication record by publishing in refereed journals and participating in national and international conferences. Strong written and oral communication skills are required.
