The Technology Management Department invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Instructor or Assistant Professor. The successful candidate is expected to teach undergraduate technology management courses and direct course projects, create innovative instructional materials, and supervise extra-curricular activities as assigned. Teaches day, evening, off campus, online, and summer classes as needed or assigned. Engages in scholarship including research and publishing and developing sources of external collaboration for projects with industry. Participates in professional associations. Participates in program assessment and development activities related to accreditation. Assumes an active role in the planning and governance of the institution through service on department, college, and campus-wide committees. Assists in recruitment, advisement, placement, and follow-up of students. Engages students in projects with outside organizations and community. Attracts funding to the college through grants and other sources.
Graduation from an accredited institution with terminal, earned degree appropriate to discipline. ABD accepted. Knowledge and skill in current instructional theories, strategies, techniques, and discipline content. Evidence of potential for scholarly/creative work consistent with a teaching university. Graduation from an accredited institution with a Ph.D., Ed.D. or J.D. in Technology Management or related field (ABD accepted) required. Three years’ experience as a Manager/Supervisor in a technology-based industry required. Also requires a minimum of two years’ part-time teaching experience at the postsecondary level in one or more of the following subjects: technology management, innovation, project management, quality assurance, information technologies, and/or manufacturing technologies.
Knowledge of subject matter and curriculum development, including online teaching environment, pertinent to a BS Degree in Technology Management (quality control, reliability and safety, materials management, information/knowledge management, strategic planning, technology marketing, globalization, etc.) with an emphasis on project management.
Skills and experience in one or more technical areas such as transportation, construction, electrical automation, engineering graphics, engineering technology, manufacturing and production, mechatronics, information systems, product and project management, etc.
Pertinent software skills used by technology managers (e.g., MS Excel, MS Project, GP Dynamics, etc., and online software management systems such as Canvas)
Managerial and administrative abilities, including interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Ability to plan and prepare instructional materials for a course of study with measurable objectives for each course taught and maintain and submit reports and records involving student accountability, attendance, performance, and follow-up
Maintains a student-oriented approach to education and engage students in projects with outside organizations
Compliance and accreditation experience highly desirable
