Half of the position will be for teaching Book Arts courses in bookbinding, letterpress printing & hand paper-making. The other half of the position will include responsibility for the upkeep of three studios.
The University of Alabama School of Library & Information Studies seeks a faculty member for a three year, non-tenure track position to begin August 2016 for the position of Instructor / Studio Manager for the Book Arts program.
Candidate must be able to teach courses in bookbinding, letterpress printing and hand paper-making in addition to maintaining the upkeep of three Book Arts studios.
Relevant Education or Training:
MFA in Book Arts and/or terminal degree in a related field. College teaching experience is strongly preferred, with a minimum of two years teaching assistance experience at the college level and/or equivalent work experience.
This position requires a highly organized and disciplined individual with a commitment to outstanding job performance and demonstrated aptitude for and experience in effective leadership, teaching, and studio management.
Intermediate to advanced knowledge of and skills in bookbinding, letterpress printing, and/or hand paper-making as well as equipment and studio maintenance; excellent communication skills and writing capabilities; and a demonstrated ability to be flexible and positive in the work environment.
