This position provides support for four labs housed in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology, including the Social Statistics Computer Lab, the Ethnography Lab, the Human Identification Lab, and the Laboratory of Anthropology (which includes archaeological materials, biological anthropology materials, and teaching/research operations). In addition to supervising and coordinating academic interns and work study students, the position requires the management of lab resources, equipment, and the maintaining of anthropological collections. The position is also responsible for providing tutoring in statistics and the statistical software package SPSS for Sociology students.
Supervise work study students in each of the laboratories. Manage lab computers, equipment, and software. Maintain anthropological collections. Manage external communications by serving as a point of contact for internal and external inquiries. Manage databases/data sets. Purchase equipment for labs as needed. Tutor students in statistics and SPSS. Maintain web page for the Human Identification and Ethnography labs. Work with faculty leads in each of the four labs and the sub-areas contained therein.

A Master’s Degree in Anthropology or closely related field.
Experience conducting basic descriptive and inferential statistics (e.g., t-test, Chi-Square, linear regression, etc.) as apparent in academic research and/or coursework.
Experience using Statistical Software Packages.
Experience using SPSS Statistical Software.
Experience with providing tutoring for students on statistics.
Experience working with systematic anthropological collections and accompanying documentation.
Experience with lab management.
Experience and/or knowledge regarding the conducting of quantitative and qualitative research.
Experience providing supervision and performance management over staff.
Experience managing data bases/sets.
Experience or ability to maintain web page updates.
Advanced Coursework in Statistics.
