Detailed Job Description

The Coordinator of New Student Engagement serves to lead the college in the design, implementation, integration and assessment of a comprehensive engagement, transition and support program to promote academic success for students new to Anne Arundel Community College. This fulltime, position reports to the Director of Student Engagement and collaborates with college units and programs to create a holistic support system for new students, including the development of new student orientation programs.  

Required Qualifications

Master's degree in Student Services, Education, Counseling or related field required.

A minimum of three years experience in higher education administration, to include at least 1-2 years experience in new student orientation, is required.

Considerable knowledge of higher education or community college administration practices and principles

Considerable knowledge of student affairs administration and student development theory

Demonstrated ability to perform project management, including the implementation of evaluation, assessment and report generation

Demonstrated ability to perform administrative functions including strategic planning, implementation of quality programs and services, as well as policy and procedure review and development

Ability to work independently and to carry out complex assignments

Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to establish effective working relationships with a diverse population of faculty, staff and students  

Preferred Qualifications

Community college experience;

Working experience in one or more related areas including but not limited to: student life, mediation, counseling, student government, retention programs, academic support and/or civic engagement; and

Experience coordinating freshman seminars is a plus.
