Detailed Job Description

The Communications Specialist works with a department or area to develop and implement communication plans and activities to support the goals of a specific department, a college and/or The University.

Additional Department Summary:

This position is responsible for writing, editing and distributing content to prospective UA students and parents via key social media websites. The incumbent maintains the UA Undergraduate Admissions presences on Twitter and Facebook (and other social media outlets as needed), taking a lead role in writing news announcements, taking and posting informal (snapshot) photographs, and responding to questions from students and parents through those social media channels. The person in this position will sometimes write content for email campaigns and websites in addition to writing for social media channels.This position also supervises and coordinates admissions recruiters and regional recruiters in their use of social media for recruiting prospective students.

Required Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, English, Marketing, Advertising or related field and one (1) year experience in journalism, public relations, or other communications related experience OR Master's degree. Related student or Graduate Assistant, Intern, or student oriented experience will be considered. To be considered student experience, it must be detailed in the employment section on the application.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications:

Must have experience using social media websites.

Skills and Knowledge:

Knowledge of some modern web communications tools. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work with staff members and provide guidance on best practices for communication in a digital environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Content Management Systems and/or blogging software. Experience with HTML editing software, image-editing software, or other digital content creation tools. 56 Monthly (exempt): - Minimum - $ 29120.04 Midpoint - $ 40767.96
