The School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Washington State University invites applications and nominations for two full-time, non-tenure-track academic (9-month) positions as an Instructor or Clinical Assistant (or Associate) Professor in the area of software engineering or software project management. The appointments will begin August 16, 2013. Salary will be commensurate with experience and rank. The positions are primarily for teaching with a focus on developing and teaching on-campus and online courses and laboratories in several of the following topics: Algorithmics, Software engineering requirements, Software engineering processes, Software specifications, Software system design, Software quality assurance, Software security engineering, Software engineering tools, Software project management, and Software process measurement, assessment, and improvement. Teaching loads are expected to be six courses per academic year. The appointments will be on a three-year renewable contract.
Applicants must have either (1) earned at least an MS degree in Computer Science or a related field, preferably with specialization in Software Engineering by August 15, 2013, or (2) gained at least 4 years of industry experience as a Software Engineer with a BS degree. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated ability to develop and teach software engineering courses. Additionally, preference will be given to candidates with prior experience in teaching software engineering courses or with prior experience in the software industry in the above-mentioned areas.
