Under general direction, performs clinical office support for complex patient procedures/ cases, such as explaining and scheduling, advanced, endoscopic biliary procedures in interventional radiology, scheduling patient appointments and tests, and obtaining pre-certifications; facilitates follow up consultations for complex surgeries.
Knowledge of healthcare and medical procedures, including terminology.

Graduate of an accredited nursing program with one to three years of experience required. Missouri RN license is also required.
Schedules advanced biliary procedures at all SSM practice locations and communicates instructions to patients; schedules labs and radiology; receives patient referrals from referring physicians; reviews clinic schedules to ensure adequate records are available
Verifies insurance coverage and secures necessary pre-certifications; requests medical records from appropriate sources; completes requests for confidential transfer of medical records and information; communicates regularly with referring providers and patients; provides guidance, training and back up for the Gastrointestinal Clinical Support Coordinator.
Answers phones; reviews medical history with patient; reviews and maintains current demographics, medications, social history and pertinent medical history; explains preparations needed for procedures and sends confidential information to patients; places telephone calls or enters EPIC orders to pharmacies to order prescriptions; enters orders in EMR; prepares correspondence to patients for non-routine or advanced procedures; monitors and works EPIC referral queue/in-basket; orders prescriptions as requested by the endoscopists
