The Senior Fiscal & Administration Specialist is responsible for budgeting, reporting, accounting, and analysis of WSU Tri-Cities campus budgets including post award research grants with a combined portfolio of over $30M. This position will provide leadership and proactive customer service in the areas of research and academic administrative processes for: capital and financial planning, and procedures development and assist in implementation planning of fiscal administrative best practices for the campus.
The incumbent’s responsibilities include: managing Academic Affairs operating budgets, review of campus fiscal operations, and performing a variety of review and supportive/corrective functions related to ensuring accurate administrative processes are in place.
A Bachelor’s degree in a field relevant to area of specialization and three (3) years of experience directly related to the specialty area. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.
Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible experience in higher education budget/finance administration to include collaboration with faculty.
Experience working with rapidly growing organizations.
Experience with state and government regulations pertaining to fiscal management.
Experience auditing for allowable, reasonable and consistent data.
Experience preparing summary fiscal reports, database maintenance and standard query language use and applications within tuition driven budget models of higher education.
Experience with organizational strategic planning.
Skilled at presenting information, making recommendations, and leading relevant discussions based on fiscal knowledge and analytical findings.
Experience with Business Objects Data Warehouse.
