Under the supervision of the Director of Admissions and Outreach, this position serves as the functional lead on all strategic recruitment initiatives and activities for traditional aged students. The position uses the principles of strategic enrollment management to lead, supervise, and train Admissions staff on strategic enrollment initiatives for target populations to help meet the University’s strategic enrollment goals. Recruits students and provides direction for and oversees the management of walk-in counseling services for traditional and non-traditional students and tele-counseling efforts. Oversees the Assistant Director of Admissions and in collaboration with this position, supervises and provides ongoing training for the high school outreach team to ensure high levels of customer service, and currency and accuracy of admissions information. Develops and continually modifies a specific recruitment plan for traditional students as well as a specific plan for students of color. Works closely with departments and faculty to coordinate their services for recruitment activities. Provides direction for and oversees the following areas: Campus Visitation Programs, Admissions Review, Concurrent Enrollment, and International Admissions. Develops and implements assessment tools to evaluate effectiveness of campus visitation program, recruitment and outreach services, and walk-in counseling. Develops and oversees all aspects of the Roadrunner Ambassador Program and collaborates regularly with the Excel Program and coordinates services at Denver Metro area high schools. This includes supervision and training of staff, building and maintaining partnerships with schools, coordination of parent evening events, and coordination of on-site and campus services and events for students, high counselors, and other related constituents. The position also maintains a regular visitation schedule to Colorado high schools, providing MSU Denver specific presentations and assistance with the application and enrollment processes and represents MSU Denver at high school and community fairs. Utilizes statistical data analysis and strategic enrollment management principles for program evaluation and planning to develop and refine initiatives to keep recruiting program viable and to achieve strategic enrollment goals. Conducts targeted follow-up communications (email, phone, web, social media, and text) to inquiries, applicants, accepted and enrolled students groups, with an emphasis on students from underrepresented groups.
25% – Oversees the Assistant Director of Admissions and in collaboration with this position, leads, supervises, and trains high school outreach team and provides direction for and oversees recruitment activities in traditional and international markets. Develops and continually modifies specific communication and recruitment plans. Works with internal and external departments and organizations to coordinate recruitment activities. Develops performance plans for team and conducts performance evaluations.
15% – in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Admissions, develops, implements, and coordinates all aspects of the Roadrunner Ambassador Program. Recruits, hires, trains and supervises student ambassadors; maintains relationships with high school counselors; conducts monthly student ambassador meetings and trainings; works with data management team to ensure correct data reports of RAP schools; and collaborates regularly with the Excel Program.
15% – Provides in-office admissions counseling and academic planning advice to prospective students from all markets, including international students with an emphasis on diverse, underrepresented groups, including students of color.
15% – Coordinates available university resources, on and off campus, into an effective student recruitment program; assists in planning and coordinating various facets of the recruiting program including on-campus visitation events and tours. Upholds and interprets the standards of ethical practice in college admissions to assist with broad recruitment activities in the high school, transfer, and adult markets.

Three years of experience working with diverse populations of traditional and non-traditional students in a college or university setting.
At least three years experience providing supervision and performance management for staff.
Experience with a student information system and a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Demonstrated experience with outreach and recruitment efforts of underrepresented students, including but not limited to students of color.
A valid driver’s license.
Experience with Banner (student information system) and Ellucian Recruiter (CRM system).
Experience conducting statistical analysis of data to provide information to meet goals and objectives and conduct program evaluations.
Experience using social media to communicate with students.
Knowledge of standards for ethical practice in college admissions.
