Under the direction of the Catering Manager, provides assistance to catering staff through a variety of tasks inside and outside of the office. Responsible for functional needs in the office including hiring, training, evaluation of student employees, and operational duties pertaining to the catering office. Assists in coordinating client requests, computer production tickets, and scheduling of staff.
Graduation with a high school diploma or GED.
Knowledge of excel programs for office duties including taking orders from faculty, staff, and administration and typing orders for production in kitchen areas.
Knowledge of the operations and management of a catering service program, including management of food preparation, menu planning, and cost computation.
Skills in interpersonal communication, problem-solving, and decision-making.
Ability to plan, organize, supervise, and direct the activities of catering setup and take-down, and banquet services.
Ability to follow written and verbal procedures and instructions.
Ability to meet and work with the public, in a way that is consistent with the overall mission of Dining Services.
Ability to supervise team members before, during, and after events.
Ability to teach procedures to accomplish assignments more efficiently.
Ability to interview potential employees for available openings.
Ability to conduct training meetings for new and existing employees for efficient running of the department.
Ability to develop employee training techniques/programs.
Ability to coordinate with Student Center scheduler booking events special, standard, or direct bookings with takeout items.
Ability to inventory catering supplies.
