Collaborates as a pianist with students and faculty in rehearsals and performances. Participates in master classes, private lessons, and juries as assigned. Supports and reinforces the musical and technical ideas presented by private teachers and ensemble directors. Manages private rehearsal times with students. Maintains positive and encouraging interactions with students to support them as performing artists. Demonstrates flexibility with repertoire assignments, to include pieces of varying genres, time periods, and difficulty levels. Adjusts tempos and dynamics according to the needs and levels of expertise of the students. Improves professionally and maintains expertise in technical skills and breadth of repertoire.
Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate’s degree in a closely related field plus one year of experience related to the Summary of Duties or any combination of education and/or experience related to the Summary of Duties totaling three years.
Knowledge of planning and scheduling techniques.
Knowledge of effective management of rehearsal and performance scheduling.
Skills as an accomplished collaborative pianist.
Ability to established breadth in accompanying repertoire in a variety of styles and levels of difficulty.
Ability to interact with students in a positive and supportive manner.
Ability to make musical adjustments to accommodate student needs and teacher instructions.
