Coordinates the Upward Bound Program under the supervision of the Director. Participates in development of curricula for summer workshops and other courses. Advocates for individual students as well as TRIO eligible students in general regarding access and persistence at the university. Serves on University committees as appropriate to promote TRIO programs and advocate for TRIO eligible students. Participates in state, regional, and national associations that provide professional development for TRIO students, TRIO programs, or under-served populations.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelor’s degree in a directly related field of study or a combination of education and experience totaling four years.
Preference will be given to individuals with a Master’s Degree in psychology, education, or child/family development or a Bachelor’s Degree and two years full-time paid experience in the fields listed above.
Knowledge of Trio Programs.
Knowledge of educational and career advisement techniques and activities.
Skills in the coordination and development of a staff.
Skills in interpersonal communication, problem solving, and decision making.
Skills in program analysis and report writing.
Skills with computers and computer software applications.
Ability to audit participant files for accuracy, completeness & confidentiality.
Ability to gather and analyze data and provide feedback for monthly and annual reports.
Ability to evaluate and monitor the students’ responses to group guidance activities.
Ability to work with atypical school populations.
