The Data Architect/BI Analyst participates in all aspects of the design, development, and deployment of data architecture for our Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW)/ Operational Data Store (ODS) solutions and delivery of reports. Our product is a comprehensive data warehouse/data store, Ellucian Banner EDW/ODS. The Data Architect also participates in analyzing the warehouse data, publishing the reports and interacting with staff to empower meaningful improvements to higher education and support of the University’s mission.
This position is supporting a new initiative for a centralized Business Intelligence team in a fast-paced, growing Higher Education environment.
Graduation from an accredited institution with a Master’s degree in related field plus two year of experience; OR Bachelor’s degree in related field plus four years of experience related; OR Associate’s degree in related field plus six years of experience related to the essential functions/duties of the position OR any combination of higher education and experience directly related to the essential functions/duties totaling eight years.
Database principles, processes, technologies and tools
Structured Query Language (SQL)
RDBMS systems (MS SQL Server or Oracle)
Data Architecture, e.g., data modeling / data normalization, database design and tuning for On-Line Analytical Processing (OLAP) information systems, and relational and dimensional architectures
Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) into a data warehouse
Data Modeling tools (Toad, ER Studio, Visio)
Software development methodologies including the Systems Development Lifecycle
Banner, source control systems, Toad tools, Oracle Warehouse Builder, OLAP tools
Ability to derive meaning from data
Ability to provide excellent written and verbal communication with strong personal skills.
Ability to adapt to changing requirements and priorities.
Ability to problem solve critical issues and also be proficient at troubleshooting production issues.
