The Staff Psychiatrist at Health & Wellness Services provides independent psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, stabilization, medication management, referral and/or mental health education to patients presenting for care at Health & Wellness Services. The practice model is such that the psychiatrist evaluates, diagnose and stabilizes the patient and then refers back to the primary care physician for continuation of care. Complex patients who fall outside the scope of practice for a primary care physician would be maintained by the psychiatrists. With the development of the behavioral health unit there will be opportunities for growth within the department.
