Under general supervision, performs secretarial duties, which include work requiring knowledge of specialized medical/scientific terminology; performs general secretarial duties as assigned.

High school diploma; supplemented with two (2) years secretarial experience which includes one (1) year using medical/scientific terminology.
Triages urgent appointment requests from parents, pediatricians, internal hospital services and outside hospitals and ensure appropriate scheduling.
Obtains and verifies required documentation for patient exams and surgeries; schedules and pre-certifies tests and surgical procedures.
Triages prescription refill requests and eyeglass prescriptions for physicians and residents, obtains prior authorization as needed; triages telephone and MyChart requests for physicians and residents.
Coordinates clinic schedules for multiple ophthalmologists and optometrist.
Maintain databases for hospital reporting; coordinates patient transportation for state Medicaid patients; corresponds to inquiries from schools, government agencies, low vision services and optial shops.
Performs other duties as assigned.
