Quinnipiac University invites applications for the position of Assistant/Associate Director for Student Services in the School of Communications.
The Assistant/Associate Director for Student Services will work closely with both the Assistant Dean for Student Services and the Assistant Dean for Career Development in the School of Communications. The successful candidate will carry a significant teaching course load within the School of Communications seminar series and will assist students with academic planning and decision-making and coordinating and supporting various programming pertaining to academic advising and career development.
Develop, design and provide support of academic planning for students in the School of Communications.
Must be able to teach and facilitate courses in the School of Communications Seminar Series .
Assist with the direction and implementation of academic and career advising activities in the School of Communications.
Advise freshmen and undeclared students.
Assist with career counseling and academic advising workshops and programming.
Evaluate transcripts for incoming freshmen and transfer students.
Work with freshmen experiencing academic challenges.
Assist with career fairs and other career-related events.
Provide administrative support for internship and career practicum experiences.
Provide résumé development and reviews for undergraduate and graduate students.
Work with faculty on advising-related questions and matters.
Efficiently and effectively resolve student problems and address concerns.
Work ethically and with professional integrity and discretion.
Other duties, as necessary.
Master’s degree required.
Experience in a higher education setting, preferably in advising, career development, teaching or a related field.
Ability to work with diverse populations.
Excellent communications skills
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
Commitment to student learning, developmental advising protocols and academic success.
