The Chief Licensure and Field Experiences Officer will be responsible for the development, coordination, administration and management of all licensure programs, field experiences and internships in the School of Education (SOE). The incumbent is the liaison between the School of Education and the Massachusetts Department of Education and Secondary Education (ESE).
The Certification Officer manages all teacher and professional licensure activities, including the monitoring of candidate progress and recommending candidates for certification.
Provides supervision of staff that process candidate records, validation of completion of degree requirements and certification policies related to qualifying students for certification exams.
Working with the dean or associate dean, the certification officer communicates with SOE faculty regarding certification matters and assists faculty with needed changes in certification.
Verifies and assists with the aggregation and disaggregation of data for various reporting agencies including the accountability system for ESE, Title II and other required reports.
Prepares annual certification reports and communicates with school districts and other college personnel.
Regularly updates the certification and field handbooks and websites.
Serves on appropriate committees; other duties as may be assigned by the Dean or Associate Dean.
As part of the Licensure and Field Experiences, the Certification Officer also provides oversite of the area of clinical practicum, internships and student teaching. This area of the position requires the incumbent to supervise the coordinator of XCP Field Experiences.
Ensures the appropriate coordination of all sites takes place.
Assists faculty and/or conducts professional development with PK-12 School, faculty and staff regarding policies, procedures, and assessment.
Other duties as assigned by the Dean or Associate Dean.

Master's degree in school administration or related area is required.
Strong commitment to high-quality instruction in a diverse, student-centered environment and the ability to work with students with various learning styles and backgrounds
Interest in active and collaborative learning and enthusiasm for working in a multidisciplinary environment.
Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, Blackboard, and the instructional use of technology to teach traditional, hybrid or on-line courses, as needed.
Ability to foster a collaborative atmosphere among students and faculty.
Expertise that complements and expands that of the department.
