Job Summary

The Anthropology Department at Skidmore College invites applications for a one-year position in cultural anthropology, to begin September 2016 and end May 2017. We seek a broadly trained cultural anthropologist with fieldwork experience on contemporary issues in East or Southeast Asia. We are particularly interested in candidates with expertise in political anthropology, but other topics of research will also be considered, including applied anthropology, development, economics, environment, gender, transnationalism, or violence and conflict. Candidates from under-represented groups, as well as individuals who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community through their research, teaching, and/or service are strongly encouraged to apply. The position requires teaching 3 courses per semester, including an introduction to cultural anthropology as well as upper-level geographic and topical courses. Candidates are expected to contribute to Skidmore's Asian Studies Program. Applicants must demonstrate excellence in teaching, active scholarship and fieldwork, and a strong commitment to undergraduate education at a liberal arts college.
