Frostburg State University, Office of Information Technology, is accepting applications for a full-time, exempt Instructional Design Assistant to support FSU’s online Nursing Program. This is a grant-funded, on-campus staff position. Salary commensurate with experience and includes University System of Maryland benefits package.
Responsibilities: In collaboration with the Department of Instructional Design and Delivery and the Department of Nursing, assist in the planning, development, and instruction of quality online courses and learning activities using pedagogically appropriate technologies. Train and support faculty, staff, and student end-users on effective use of the Blackboard Learning System, Blackboard Collaborate, and other adapted instructional technologies. Evaluate applicable software and extensions for online education. Assist with online tutoring programs, proctoring systems, e-Portfolios, and other student support services. Create student satisfaction surveys and reports; support assessment efforts. Attend regional on-site promotional events aimed at introducing potential students to instructional technology and the FSU Nursing Program. Support the Nursing Program through special projects and initiatives related to the funded project.
Minimum Qualifications: Associate’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Management, Business Administration, or related field. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Blackboard or other Learning Management Tool, web/video-conferencing, and instructional technologies. Experience with report writing, creating instructional materials, and presentations. Excellent written and oral communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills. Ability to interact with faculty, staff, students, and administrators on behalf of the Nursing Program.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Online Education, Distance Education, Instructional Technology, or related field. One to three years of employment in a teaching/learning environment. Working knowledge of media delivery formats including streaming video, animations, audio, images, and their integration into a Learning Management System. Familiarity with best practices in teaching delivery in synchronous and asynchronous learning environments. Experience in a health science field with work in course design, adult learning theories, and distance education is desirable.
Other: Any combination of training and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in a related field and progressively responsible related work experience may be considered.
