The Office of Research and Analysis in the Division of Enrollment Management & Student Success (EMSS) at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio, seeks a meticulous problem-solver to join its research area.  Under the supervision of the Director of Research and Analysis, the Assistant or Associate Director will support the functional offices of Admission, Bursar, Enrollment Operations and One Stop Services, Student Financial Assistance, University Registrar, as well as EMSS, by supplying coordinated information to decision makers.  The successful candidate for this position will have a passion for accuracy coupled with an understanding of the complexity of data questions.

Duties

  • Writing and organizing documentation for Miami’s OEM Processes and Procedures manual
  • Support Student Success Applications – Education Advisory Board & Civitas
  • Liaison to various departments and divisions
  • Facilitate all data analytics for EMSS
  • Support EMSS data software users
  • Management of data request ticketing system
  • Manage student workers
  • Staying current with higher education trends
  • Validating or testing data and reports received from other offices
  • Constructing and maintaining graphs, e.g. daily application counts by state, daily confirmation counts by division, daily cancellations by residency, etc.
  • Linking data from multiple sources
  • Cleaning, coding, and archiving survey, recruitment, and enrollment data
  • Create and Manage Access databases
  • Running existing and writing new reports from institutional databases
  • Fulfilling ad hoc data requests
  • Staying current with data analytic tools and developments
  • Learning new software as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications to be an Assistant Director of Research & Analysis:

  • Bachelor’s degree and two years of experience in data analytics or a Master’s degree in a field related to data analytics
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Access
  • Ability to represent the division in professional settings
  • Ability to build visual dashboards and reports to express any piece of data
  • Ability to create publication-quality illustrations and presentations
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new software and continually acquire new competencies
  • Good written and oral communication skills

  • Experience using national databases, e.g. census data or IPEDS (Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System)
  • Strong background in mathematics, statistics, or other quantitative field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Access
  • Ability to represent the division in professional settings
  • Build visual dashboards and reports to express any piece of data
  • Ability to discover underlying trends in higher education data.
  • Ability to create publication-quality illustrations and presentations
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new software and continually acquire new competencies
  • Good written and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

Assistant Director

  • Experience working in a higher education setting
