The Director of Innovation in Teaching and Learning will provide vision and oversight for all forms of faculty and staff development, including determining appropriate support, resources, programming and training to facilitate faculty and staff professional growth. The Director will be responsible for continuous improvement in a vibrant and diverse range of faculty and staff development programs to support teaching, leadership and research. The Director will report to the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
The Director of Innovation in Teaching and Learning will be a visionary with a history of demonstrated success bringing projects to fruition while providing creative and resourceful solutions to complex challenges. The successful candidate will be a strong leader, a participative team-player, and an individual with a high degree of interpersonal effectiveness and a total commitment to the highest level of quality and service. Key to success will be an entrepreneurial spirit, high energy, a roll-up-your sleeves approach, and attention to detail, coupled with a style that quickly earns respect at all levels both internally and externally. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in innovative pedagogies, curricular designs and assessment of learning outcomes in the context of a learning paradigm university.
Create a vision of faculty and staff development and effectively communicate that vision university wide.
Work closely with Department Chairs and Deans to create and foster a culture of teaching excellence on campus.
Provide leadership in faculty and staff development by designing, implementing and assessing a comprehensive program to assist faculty and staff at all stages of their careers.
Plan, develop and manage faculty and staff initiatives that incorporate the latest research in teaching and learning.
Design faculty and staff events, workshops, and programs to improve teaching and learning.
Play a key role in the orientation of new faculty members.
Enhance individual teaching effectiveness by consulting with individual faculty to facilitate growth in appropriate pedagogy, curriculum design, and assessment of student learning outcomes.
Provide strategic planning regarding campus wide technology use for the enhancement of student learning.
The Director of Innovation in Teaching and Learning will offer the following qualifications:
Substantial higher education experience.
Demonstrated success leading faculty and staff development efforts.
