The Sport Leadership and Management (SLAM) program announces the search for a new Assistant Professor in Sport Management. Outstanding candidates are encouraged to apply to this growing undergraduate program (400+ SLAM majors/minors) and Master’s program in Sport Leadership. The SLAM undergraduate major has four areas of concentration designed to prepare students for specific career opportunities in Sport Management, Coaching, Sport Journalism, and Sport Media. Students often co-major or minor in management, marketing, or entrepreneurship in the Farmer School of Business, a nationally rated top 25 undergraduate Business program. Miami University is located in close proximity to several major cities (Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Cleveland, Columbus, Chicago) allowing SLAM students and faculty to work with professional, collegiate, and community sport organizations.
Teach courses in two or more of the following content areas: sport finance and economics, facility and event management, sport marketing, introductory sport management concepts and theory, with the possibility for additional winter and summer term teaching, contingent upon fully enrolled courses; maintain productive scholarly research; mentor and advise undergraduate and graduate students, and provide service to the department, division, and university.
An earned doctorate in Sport Management or related field (by December 31, 2016 for appointment to second year).
Strong candidates will show a promise of high quality research; potential for high quality graduate and undergraduate teaching in sport management; knowledge of and experience with multicultural populations; may have professional experience in sport management or related area; skills to incorporate technology in teaching; international experience or focus, and experience in interdisciplinary teaching and/or research.
