The Staff Psychologist provides clinical services to its clients.
Additional Department Summary:
The Staff Psychologist provides direct counseling services to enrolled University students, outreach and consultation services to members of the University community, and, as needed, training to students in the mental health professions. This position is expected to rotate on-call throughout the year for the purpose of crisis intervention services. Due to the complex nature of human problems, this position requires a high degree of sophistication of thought and creativity. The Staff Psychologist routinely works with people in distress and encounters life-threatening emergencies. The person in this position will, for example, intervene with a student who is acutely suicidal and making threats in his or her residential area. Such situations call for excellent judgment, problem solving, and a thorough knowledge of the myriad factors behind the resolution of psychological problems. The Staff Psychologist is expected to be knowledgeable about and adhere to all policies and procedures as contained in the Counseling Center Policy and Procedure Manual. The incumbent will also follow Quality Improvement standards. Along with all staff, the staff psychologist should have a proven record of and continually demonstrate exemplary attitudes and performance in the areas of teamwork and proactively assisting all constituencies within the scope of the Counseling Center mission.
Required Minimum Qualifications
A Doctoral degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology completed by start date OR an official letter received documenting that all doctoral degree requirements have been met and specifying the graduation date and a minimum of two (2) years related work experience. Must be licensed as a Psychologist in the state of Alabama or license-eligible and attain licensure within one year of employment.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications:
This position requires some after-hours work.
Skills and Knowledge:
This position requires basic computer skills such as word processing and email, and the ability to effectively interact with University community members for the purpose of program development.
College or University counseling center experience preferred. 59 Monthly (exempt): - Minimum - $ 43887.96 Midpoint - $ 63648.00
