The Metropolitan State University of Denver is seeking applicants for a tenure-track position in the Department of Aviation and Aerospace Science. Teach 12 credit hours per semester; maintain office hours as required to include advising/consultation with students and engage in student-centered activities. Position includes additional responsibilities in the areas of scholarly activities and service to the Department, College, University and community. Candidates will be expected to teach such courses as, but not limited to, the following: Aviation Fundamentals, Aviation Weather, Single Engine Flight Simulation, Commercial and Instrument Ground, Instrument Flight Simulation, Aircraft Systems and Propulsion, Weather for Aircrews, Aerodynamics, Human Factors and Physiology of Flight, Aircraft Performance, Advanced Navigation Systems. The successful candidate must have the ability to work with and be sensitive to the educational needs of a diverse urban population.
A Master’s degree in Aviation and Aerospace Technology or a related field plus 4 years of directly related aviation technology work experience.
(1) FAA certifications and ratings to include: (a) Commercial Pilot, (b) Instrument Airplane, © Certified Flight Instructor – Single and Multi-Engine Airplane, (d) Certified Flight Instructor – Instrument Airplane and (e) Flight Dispatcher.
(2) Teaching experience to include: (a) four or more semesters of documented teaching at a U.S. nationally accredited collegiate institution in classes related to aviation or aerospace science, (b) experience instructing collegiate classes online via Web-based delivery, © familiarity with TSA requirements for flight training, including those for Flight Training Devices (FTDs) and simulators, and (d) experience instructing in FAA approved FTDs.
(3) Experience in the aerospace industry such as aerospace systems management, space commercialization, or space-based science applications.
(4) Earned Doctorate (applied) or Ph.D.
