Position: The Psychology Department at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Applied Psychology. Position is contingent on available funding.
The Psychology Department at SIU Carbondale (http://psychology.siu.edu/
) has approximately 450 majors and over 80 doctoral students. The Department has a strong collegial atmosphere and support for research and teaching. The Department provides doctoral training in Applied Psychology, Brain and Cognitive Sciences, as well as APA-accredited programs in Clinical Psychology and Counseling Psychology.Start Date:
August 16, 2016; 9-month appointment.Qualifications:
PhD in Psychology with interests in the application of psychological theory and research methods to real-world problems. Applicants with degrees in applied psychology, industrial/organizational psychology, social psychology, community psychology and related fields are encouraged to apply. We are particularly interested in applicants with expertise in Social-Organizational or I/O Psychology. Research specializations might include (but are not limited to) the following areas: group processes, leadership, personnel legal issues in employment, occupational/organizational health, organizational behavior management, performance management, personnel psychology, methodology. Applicants must have demonstrated ability to conduct research in applied settings and to extend basic psychological theory and research to applied problems. ABD applicants will be considered if all requirements for the Ph.D. will be completed by August 15, 2016. If all requirements for the Ph.D. are not completed by August 15, 2016, a term, non-tenure track appointment may be offered in accordance with University policy (http://policies.siu.edu/personnel policies/chapter2/ch2-faps/conting.html
The selected individual will be expected to teach graduate and undergraduate courses in organizational psychology, social psychology, research methods or related areas. It is expected that the individual will develop an active, externally funded research program.Application Instructions:
