Position: The Psychology Department at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale (http://psychology.siu.edu/) anticipates an opening for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Counseling Psychology. Position is contingent on available funding.Start Date:
The Southern Illinois University Carbondale Department of Psychology is a vibrant and collegial academic unit that provides many opportunities for collaboration with faculty and students from programs in Clinical Psychology—Adult and Child (APA-accredited), Brain and Cognitive Sciences, and Applied Psychology.
August 16, 2016; 9-month appointment.Qualifications:
PhD in Psychology from an APA-accredited Counseling Psychology program with an APA-accredited internship. Areas of expertise are open, but especially desirable areas of scholarly interest include multicultural issues, gender issues, vocational psychology/career development, and international psychology. Required qualifications include demonstrated potential for the following: an active, independent research program; graduate and undergraduate teaching; practicum supervision including supervision of career counseling; graduate advising; and thesis and dissertation research supervision. Preferred qualifications include evidence of a strong commitment to scholarship and ability to work effectively in a traditional scientist-practitioner counseling psychology program; licensed or license eligible in Illinois. ABD applicants will be considered if all requirements for the Ph.D. will be completed by August 15, 2016. If all requirements for the Ph.D. are not completed by August 15, 2016, a term, non-tenure track appointment may be offered in accordance with University policy (http://policies.siu.edu/personnel policies/chapter2/ch2-faps/conting.html
Teaching opportunities may include counseling skills, supervision, psychotherapy theories, ethics and professional issues, vocational psychology, and measurement. Teaching and research in an APA-accredited Counseling Psychology doctoral program. We are also particularly interested in a faculty member who can serve as a mentor and role model for students in this program that is highly diverse and values social justice.Application Instructions:
