 Job Description:

  • Oversee the Office of International Education operations in collaboration with the Dean and Assistant Director. Develop Study Abroad Operations Policies and Procedures in collaboration with the Dean.
  • Collaborate with the Dean on continual development and refinement of the Internationalization Strategic Plan, in keeping with the College Strategic plan.  Act as a resource for the campus community on internationalization, as needed.  Create and maintain the FIT Internationalization web presence. Develop the requirements for the minor in collaboration with the School of Liberals Arts, in accordance with the Strategic Plan initiatives.
  • Collaborate with Dean on establishment and promotion of intercultural competencies in conjunction with International Student Services, Enrollment Management and Student Success,  Academic Affairs, etc. in accordance with strategic plan initiatives.
  • Oversee finalization of renewal, new, and renegotiated exchange and one-way study abroad agreements, including approvals by FIT relevant offices.  Develop rubric for program evaluation at point of renewal.  Assist Dean in encouraging diversification, evaluation and expansion of short-term program offerings.
  • Assist the Dean on dual diploma and articulations enhancement and administration, and development of new relationships, in accordance with FIT strategic initiatives.
  • Interface with Academic Affairs, Enrollment Management and Student Success, and Communications and External Relations in developing new communication and information vehicles to promote and education the campus community about internationalization, and FIT's global scholarly and industry linkages and reach.
  • Spearhead Internationalizing the curriculum analysis in collaboration with chairs and deans.
  • Oversee and conduct Fulbright Student Program promotion and advising.  Convene campus evaluation committee as needed.  Collaborate with the Dean and Faculty Fulbright Committee to educate the faculty on funding and grant options and assist with applications, as needed. 
  • Promote Center for Online International Learning (COIL) course development and participation to the faculty, oversee day to day assistance, interface with SUNY COIL Center, develop benchmarks of best practice and sustainability.
  • Serve on the Global Scholarship Committee.


Desired qualifications: Earned or in-progress doctorate in higher or international education or related field.  Ten years of appropriate experience in higher education study abroad programs or related fields; Extensive knowledge of program development with a demonstrated understanding of verbal, print and digital communications strategies; ability to oversee study abroad application management  and institutional database systems; history of working directly with faculty, staff and students; high organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines. Ability to supervise compilation of detailed academic and financial reports required. Must be able to make complicated management decisions, compose complex correspondence and conduct research for concurrent projects. Experience with electronic communication systems, database and spreadsheet reports. Excellent student and faculty relations skills essential.  Substantial international experience and involvement in NAFSA: Association of International Educators and/or Forum on Education Abroad required.
