Quinnipiac University invites applications for the position of Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program Clinical Coordinator. The position's primary purpose is to coordinate all clinical education, instruct didactic material as needed, recruit new clinical affiliates as well as create, implement and modify all clinical policies and procedures to guide the clinical experience of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program. The clinical coordinator, under the supervision of the Program Director, is responsible for scheduling, assessing, and arranging the clinical placement that provides the most optimal clinical experience for the students as well as serve the needs of the clinical affiliates.
This faculty member will evaluate and ensure clinical education effectiveness through a schedule of regular visits to the clinical education centers throughout Connecticut (16 hours weekly). The clinical coordinator is responsible for the guidance of the clinical instructors, clinical preceptors, and students. In addition, this faculty member will be required to maintain 8 hours a week of clinical practice. The individual must be willing and able to travel nationally on a periodic basis for conferences and seminars.
Coordinate and evaluate all clinical education activities to ensure students meet the clinical requirements established by Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP), Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) Program.
Orient Students to the clinical portion of the DMS program.
Instruct DMS program content as needed and instruct pre-clinical lab skills as needed.
Create and implement clinical procedures and policies. Modify any/all policies and procedures to meet the needs of the students, clinical affiliates, and CAAHEP.
Establish clinical training sites and maintain effective relationships with clinical training facility personnel.
Train, coordinate, and supervise the clinical instructors.
Supervise students while on clinical training and conduct assessment of clinical performance.
Collect all necessary student documentation required for program completion.
Meet weekly with the Program Director to identify and clarify clinical issues.
Provide service to the program and the Diagnostic Imaging Department.
Certified and in good standing as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with the ARDMS.
Certified and in good standing as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with additional certification in Obstetrics with the ARDMS.
Minimum of a Baccalaureate Degree with requirement to obtain the master’s degree.
Previous experience as a clinical instructor for a medical sonography program.
Previous experience as a lab instructor for a medical sonography program.
Previous didactic teaching experience in a medical sonography program preferred.
Minimum four years current employment as a medical sonographer (minimum 2 years full time employment).
Minimum of two years current, OB/GYN experience.
