The Department of Entrepreneurship and Strategy in the School of Business at Quinnipiac University invites applicants for the Carlton Highsmith Endowed Chair in Entrepreneurship to start August 2013. Created with substantial endowment in 2012, The Carlton Highsmith Endowed Chair in Entrepreneurship is a full-time, tenure track position with rank open depending on qualifications.
The newly formed Department of Entrepreneurship and Strategy was recently spun off of the management department and offers a Bachelors of Science in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management. The department also delivers the strategy capstone course for both the undergraduate business students and the MBA program.
Teaching will be primarily in the entrepreneurship and small business major. In addition to teaching, scholarship, and service requirements, the candidate will serve an important role as a liaison to the external entrepreneurial community.
The ideal candidate will have expertise in a specialty area of entrepreneurship including, but not limited to social entrepreneurship, family business, sustainable/green entrepreneurship, or entrepreneurial finance. Experience in starting or running a business is desirable.
A Ph.D. is required, preferably in Entrepreneurship. However, a terminal degree in a related field (i.e. Business Administration, Management) may be considered, depending on research record. The position requires demonstrated excellence of teaching effectiveness, strong communication and interpersonal skills, and a desire to work with undergraduate students and student clubs. The position requires the ability to maintain a high level of scholarship pursuant to AACSB accredited school expectations, as well as advising and mentoring students, and participating in departmental and university committees.
