The Department of Management of the Woodbury School at Utah Valley University (UVU) invites applications for a new Faculty, Professional in Residence, Business Administration beginning Fall, 2013. The person hired for this position will be expected to develop contacts in the business community in support of our engaged learning mission; to teach courses as deemed appropriate; to supervise graduate assistants, interns, and students in field work projects; to provide service to the college and community; produce scholarly work; and uphold professional and ethical standards.
The Woodbury School of Business is the largest business school in the Utah system of higher education. It serves more than 4,000 undergraduates and 80 graduate students. Located in Orem, UT, a vibrant family-oriented community, UVU has quick access to some of the most fantastic outdoor activities in the U.S. including hiking, rappelling, camping, skiing (alpine and cross-country), fishing, hunting, mountain biking, hang gliding, all within 40 minutes of a major US airport and metropolitan area.
Essential Functions, Major Duties, and/or Accountabilities:
-Develop, cultivate, and grow a base of contacts in local and Utah businesses that will serve as sites where engaged learning can take place.
-Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in strategy implementation, and strategic management and while maintaining a student-oriented approach to education.
-Plan, prepare, and follow an approved course of study that includes measurable objectives for each course taught.
-Prepare instructional materials (i.e., exams, visual aids, course outlines, syllabi, and instruction sheets) as necessary.
-Establish and maintain office hours.
-Instruct, manage, and supervise individuals and groups in classrooms by the following methods: demonstration, discussion, visual aids, lectures, field trips, individualized instruction, on-line instruction, and other appropriate instructional methods.
-Evaluate instruction and learning by means of written, oral, practical, and performance tests.
-Recommend students for advancement and graduation.
-Maintain and submit accurate and current reports and records involving student accountability and performance.
-Assist Department Chair, faculty, department staff, and advisers in maintaining an effective program.
-Serve on committees and attend faculty and other meetings as assigned.
-Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
-Maintain professional qualification as per AACSB standards.
