Detailed Job Description

Under the direction of the Dean and the chair of the department of Information Systems/Technology, the Senior Professional in Residence will develop information security and cyber security curriculum for undergraduate programs and a graduate certificate; create and meet regularly with a Cyber Security Curriculum Advisory Board; work with industry partners to support the Cyber Security Career Pathways grant; teach courses as deemed appropriate; assist with report preparation and project management related to the grant; and research and gain mastery of new IT security technologies. Provide service to the university and community, produce scholarly work, and uphold professional and ethical standards.  

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited institution with a master's degree (Ph.D. preferred) in (information/cyber security or information technology or computing) or a related field. Three years' work experience in IT security
-At least one of these professional certifications (CISSP, CISA, CISM, or SANS) required
-Post-secondary teaching experience (preferred)
-Additional experience as a trainer (preferred)  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge:
-Subject matter and course content pertinent to Information Technology, Information Security, and Cyber Security programs
-GRC regulations (HIPAA, ISO 27005:2008, GLBA, FISMA, PCI)
-Online teaching environments, such as Canvas or other course management systems
-Cyber security industry experts, relevant industry partners, and appropriate conferences for professional development and presentation of scholarly work
Skills:
-Interpersonal and written communication skills
-Curriculum development skills
-Problem-solving and decision-making skills
-Project management skills
Abilities:
-Plan measurable objectives, prepare instructional materials, and follow an approved course for study for each course taught
-Grade student work; maintain and submit accurate and current plans, reports, and records involving student accountability, attendance, performance, and follow-up
-Work well with and assist academic advisers, the department chairperson, and/or the program coordinator, faculty, and department staff in maintaining an effective program
-Work with well industry partners; create and meet regularly with an advisory board to review cyber security curriculum
-Manage aspects of the grant and ensure compliance with the grant requirements
-Assist the grant office and department chairperson in monitoring the budget related to the cyber security grant
