The School of Education at Quinnipiac University invites applications for a term faculty position in the Master of Arts in Teaching Program, beginning August, 2013.
The primary responsibilities of the position will be to teach math education to elementary teacher candidates, and to provide leadership in the department on mathematics education issues, curriculum, and program development.
The successful applicant will hold an earned doctorate in education (preferably Curriculum and Instruction or a Math Education focus), with a minimum of 3 years of demonstrated teaching excellence in an elementary classroom (K-6 level). The successful applicant will demonstrate experience and knowledge of teacher training and professional development for educators in math pedagogy, as well as a record of and/or potential for scholarship in the field of education. The successful applicant must also provide evidence of a strong commitment to social justice and multicultural education, as well as strong communication skills and evidence of an ability to collaborate with colleagues, and participate actively through service through the university and the outside community.
Preference will be afforded to applicants who demonstrate knowledge of and/or teaching experiences with the Common Core State Standards, SRBI practices, the integration of technology and math teaching, curriculum development expertise and experience teaching and mentoring teacher candidates at the university level. Applicants with demonstrated success and experience preparing teacher candidates in math pedagogy at the university level are highly desired, as are applicants with experience and/or expertise in an area in addition to mathematics (such as science, reading/literacy, special education, and technology education).
