Lecturer Faculty Member to teach Teacher Education at Miami University's Regional Campus (Hamilton, OH). Effective date of appointment mid August 2016.
Lecturer to teach courses primarily in Foundations of Language and Literature, Teaching with Children’s Literature, and Introduction to Education. These courses are included in the Early Childhood Education program and Pre - Kindergarten associate's degree. The faculty member will teach mostly on the Hamilton campus with some teaching assignments on the Middletown Campus; collaborate with faculty in developing and revising programs; facilitate course-related field experiences; advise undergraduate students on the Regional campus; provide service to the university, department, community and profession; serve as an affiliate with Teacher Education on the Oxford campus and work with the EDT department, particularly around enhancing the experiences of students who transfer between campuses.
Earned Master's or higher in early childhood education or closely related field with an emphasis in reading and children’s literature by date of appointment; administrative and/or teaching experience in Pre K-3 environment and background working with diverse students; evidence of ability to pursue a teaching and service agenda appropriate for a regional campus.
Strong candidates will have experience with teaching and advising non-traditional students; active participation in related state and national professional organizations; experience in interpreting and implementing state mandated standards; experience teaching online, hybrid formats, and/or integration of technology in classroom practices; teaching or practice experience in culturally diverse or urban settings.
