The Frontline Communication Coordinator prepares, maintains, processes and provides information regarding student financial aid records. As the first line of contact for the Office of Student Financial Services, the Frontline Communication Coordinator is expected to be professional, courteous, and knowledgeable about the many aspects of financial aid, scholarships, student employment, student accounts and general information about Berklee College of Music.

The main responsibilities of the Frontline Communications Coordinator include empathetic and knowledgeable counseling of students and parents, supervision of student staff, and management of all electronic, written, and verbal communications with Berklee students and their families.

Main Duties:

  • Answer phones, emails, and assist walk-ins
  • First point of contact for the office – counsel students and parents on aspects of the aid application processes.       As needed, direct customers to appropriate staff member for assistance
  • Process all incoming documents and paperwork and distribute as necessary
  • Coordinate office security procedures to ensure that all student and parent information is stored safely before, during and after business hours
  • Prepare files for financial aid counselors’ review
  • Run daily processes to import and export data from federal agencies.
  • Send out batch communications to students and families.
  • Assist in hiring, training and supervision of student employees
  • Schedule appointments and meetings for office staff
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Skills

  • Strong verbal, written, and communication skills required. Must be able to understand and communication information to customers in a simple, clear, and logical manner.
  • Ability to maintain and contribute to the professional atmosphere of the office.
  • Ability to multitask in a high-energy, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills. Attention to detail a must.
  • Flexible and self-motivated. Able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in email, Internet research, and MS Office.
  • Demonstrated capacity to develop & maintain effective working relationships with individuals & organizations reflecting a broad range of identities, perspectives & experiences.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree with one year of office experience required.
