Detailed Job Description

The Program Assistant I for Occupational Skills is responsible for supporting and assisting with the implementation of training and related activities provided to the general public and contract customers of Anne Arundel Community College. The Program Assistant is responsible for performing general secretarial and clerical duties and some administrative functions to support the enrollment and instructional activities of the Office of Occupational Skills. The Program Assistant may have some responsibility of supervision or assisting in the supervision and training of lower level work-study staff. The Program Assistant works with students, faculty, instructors, contract customers, AACC colleagues, staff and senior administrators.  

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent and specialized secretarial or computer training required Minimum of one year general secretarial or clerical experience required.
Computer literacy is required, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access & Outlook).
Experience working in a customer-focused organization while daily interacting with clients.
Attention to details, deadlines and accuracy of information disseminated.
Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills including grammar, proofreading, editing, punctuation and spelling required.
Ability to function as an effective team member delivering excellent customer service.
Ability to deal tactfully and effectively with students, faculty, administrators and the public.
Ability to work a flexible schedule with travel expected within Anne Arundel County to accommodate the needs of the college.
Willingness to participate in an active plan of professional development to enhance current job skills and learn new skills.  

Preferred Qualifications

Associate degree or higher preferred.
