The position reports directly to the Coordinator of Instrumentation and Controls Technology and will provide 15 credit hours of instruction per semester.
Duties & Responsibilities:The individual will teach a variety of classes that may include: Basic Electronics, Semiconductor Circuits, Digital Electronics, Electro-Mechanical Devices, Control Systems, Process Control, and Programmable Logic Control. Instruction will be held at the Instrumentation and Controls Lab on the main campus, or other classrooms at San Juan College. Responsibilities will also include, student advisement, keeping student records, assisting other faculty, and working with various college committees as assigned. Day and evening class instruction will be expected. The instructor will maintain 5 hour per week of office hours devoted to assisting students and assisting within the Instrumentation & Controls Program.
Qualifications: An Associates degree in Instrumentation and five years of demonstrated industry experience will be considered, and/or any combination of education and industry experience. Oil and gas industry experience strongly preferred. Preference will be given for experience in instrumentation and electrical fields. Bachelor’s degree in Instrumentation, Engineering Technology, Electronics Engineering, or Electrical Engineering, and three years of teaching/work experience is highly desired. Applicant must have a thorough knowledge of Basic Electricity, Electronics, Digital Electronics, Electro-Mechanical Devices, Motors, Control Systems, Control Loops, and PLC Programming. Computer literacy is required. Teaching experience at a community college level is highly desirable. Successful candidate will be dynamic and have a high energy level along with a strong commitment to the community college philosophy. Candidate should value diversity and have a multi-cultural perspective with adult/minority students. Willingness to enhance coursework with appropriate online materials and classroom technology.
