Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit institution dedicated to student learning, research, health care, and service, is seeking applicants for an open position in the Division of Medical Genetics of the Department of Pediatrics at Saint Louis University School of Medicine and SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital. The appointment is at the level of Assistant/Associate Professor.
Candidates for the position should have ABMG active candidate status or certification as a clinical geneticist. Responsibilities will include administrative duties and participation in clinical care and medical education. The candidate should have an interest in academic achievement in clinical genetics. Experience, expertise and/or certification in biochemical genetics is preferred but not required. Salary is dependent on qualifications and experience.
The Division provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital, other area hospitals and outreach clinic sites under the direction of Stephen R. Braddock, M.D. The Division provides prenatal genetic services in concert with the Maternal Fetal Medicine Division of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Women’s Health. Two faculty members in the Division are actively involved in molecular genetics research projects. Comprehensive cytogenetics, molecular genetics and biochemical genetics diagnostic laboratories are available on site.
SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital is a 195 bed free standing hospital and ambulatory care center located in midtown St. Louis and it serves a diverse population from the inner city, the metropolitan area, and a 200-mile referral radius. The pediatric staff includes over 90 full time site-based Saint Louis University School of Medicine faculty.
The St. Louis metropolitan area is well-known for its low cost of living, excellent public and private schools, diverse cultural opportunities, numerous parks, recreation, and wildlife sites.
