The Department of Physics and Applied Physics at the University of Massachusetts Lowell invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Associate or Full Professor rank to begin September 2016.
The successful applicant will be engaged in teaching and research in Health Physics (HP) and must have a strong background in HP, the physical sciences, and statistics. The applicant must have already demonstrated the ability to teach HP at the graduate level and to carry out research in HP, including an established track record of attracting research funding and published research in refereed scientific journals. The University of Massachusetts Lowell (UML) has a tradition of internationally recognized research in internal dosimetry and other aspects of HP. The applicant is expected to possess knowledge of the regulations and the work of the various groups and agencies that have responsibility for setting HP standards concerning radiation protection. UML is part of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts university system and maintains a Radiation Laboratory that includes a 1 MW research reactor, a 5.5 MV Van de Graaff accelerator, laboratories for nuclear instrumentation, radiochemistry, dosimetry, and other research. The University offers degrees at B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. levels in Health Physics.
