Director of Communication and Publications for the Myaamia Center at Miami University will oversee the communication and publications of the Center.
The Myaamia Center (www.myaamiacenter.org) is a tribally supported interdisciplinary research center that serves the research and development needs of the Miami Tribe of Oklahoma as it pertains to language and cultural education.
Oversee the communication and publications of the Myaamia Center; manage the center’s web sites and digital resources; respond to growing needs in the area of video, audio, and photographic documentation, public and social media; maintain social media; prepare publications; supervise the preparation of publications including writing, editing and layout process; participate as member of Myaamia Center management team setting priorities and developing long and short-term projects and other related needs as they arise.
Bachelor’s degree. Must demonstrate an understanding of and commitment for community centered work; demonstrate ability to supervise others including graduate and undergraduate students; be a self-initiator, quick learner and be able to work independently as well as in a team; exhibit good public relations and public speaking skills; demonstrate ability to operate recording equipment (including cameras and video equipment); ability to manage a variety of student projects, and execute project deliverables in a timely fashion; ability to solve technological challenges as they arise; must be willing to travel regularly by car and plane and interact with the tribal community in a variety of professional and social settings.
A master’s degree or higher; experience in academia and collaboration with faculty partners; proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite applications including Lightroom, Premiere, Photoshop, Indesign and Illustrator; experience with computer and web publishing technologies such as Wordpress, Wikis, website authoring tools, web hosting services, and small office network and computer maintenance.
