The Assistant Baker is responsible for supporting the Pastry Chef in the production of baked goods, pastries, and bread production for the the bakeshop, Valley View cafeteria and Catering services.
High school diploma or GED plus six months to one year of related experience is required.
Must have a current Utah Food Handler’s Permit.
1 to 2 years of experience in the food industry – preferably in baking.
Must have the knowledge to calculate proportions, percentages, fractions, and volume.
Skills in reading, analyzing, and interpreting business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, scheduled and/or government regulations.
Skills in writing and reading standardized recipes and preparing foods from written recipes.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups, co-workers, customers, and the general public.
Must have the ability to analyze problems and recommend solutions; the ability to communicate effectively with others, both verbally and in writing; and the ability to exercise mature judgment.
Ability to calculate Cost of Goods Sold, make conversions of units using grams and ounces.
Must be able to prepare reports.
