Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit institution dedicated to student learning, research, healthcare, and service is seeking applicants for a full-time position, Physician Utilization Manager, with academic rank based on experience and qualifications. This is a non-tenure track position in the Division of General Internal Medicine, Department of Internal Medicine.
The Physician Utilization Manager will be in charge of case management and the utilization evaluation and improvement of Saint Louis University Hospital Physicians. The Physician Utilization Manager will establish, maintain, and monitor a quality improvement program that includes service-specific clinical indicators and quality reports. This position will advise and consult with Saint Louis University Hospital personnel to develop, review, and recommend policies and procedures concerning the program. Physician duties for case management include daily review, denials, appeal, and chart review. The Physician Utilization Manager will participate and assist in committees, task forces, and projects related to hospital utilization and throughput. Opportunities include attending on the inpatient teaching services on a limited basis. However, the majority of this position will be non-clinical. Ideal applicants should have clinical experience in managing hospital patients and experience in quality improvement, patient safety, and systems management. Applicants should be board-eligible or board-certified in internal medicine.
