The Sciences Department at Mt. Hood Community College is accepting applications for a Dean of Sciences. Reporting to the Vice President of Instruction provides divisional leadership that supports the vision, mission and strategic goals of the College. Responsible for the development, implementation, evaluation and management of assigned instructional programs, division services, budget and division employees. Provides leadership in curriculum, educational assessment, strategic planning and budgeting. Employs enrollment management and retention strategies. Fosters collaborative working relationships with internal and external counterparts to communicate and coordinate strategies that support College and instructional goals; to assess and resolve academic issues; and to promote programs and services.
Includes life sciences (anatomy/physiology, biology, microbiology, fisheries and natural resources) and physical sciences (chemistry, geology, physics/astronomy and sustainability, health and safety sciences).
Education: Master's degree (or higher) in an area discipline or related discipline
• Five years of related teaching experience in one or more of the unit disciplines
• Two years of instructional administrative experience
At the college's discretion, additional education/experience may be substituted for experience/education on a year-for-year basis.
