The University Honors Program is searching for one full-time Academic Advisor to serve its engaged community of undergraduate honors students.
Reporting to the Associate Director, this advisor will advise honors students on strategies to meet their Honors requirements, assist in planning and executing advising support programs, and counsel students on honors course extensions and petitions of co-curricular activities for honors experiences. Additional responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, collaboration with faculty coordinators to develop programming and outreach to honors students with focused academic interests, planning of and participation in activities and events that sustain and enhance community building initiatives, and program planning. Other duties as assigned by the Director and/or the Associate Director.
Master’s degree, preferably in higher education, counseling, or college student personnel. At least 12 months of experience in advising or counseling in a higher education setting. Relevant experience gained during a graduate program may apply. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Experience in working with high ability students or high impact programs; demonstrated understanding of student development theory, particularly as applied to advising strategies; expertise in web design and/or database management; familiarity with Native Banner.
