One postdoctoral position is available in the area of bioinorganic chemistry.
The successful candidate conduct experiments in the laboratory; will collect and analyze spectroscopic and kinetic data; will over-express and purify recombinant metalloenzymes. The metalloenzymes will be characterized using SDS-PAGE, steady-state kinetics, metal analyses (ICP,AA), CD spectropolarimetry, and MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry. Rapid-freeze quench EPR, DEER, and EXAFS studies will be conducted on the resulting enzymes. The successful candidate will work with undergraduate and graduate students in the collaborative research labs of Michael Crowder and David Tierney.
Successful candidate must have a Ph.D. in chemistry, biochemistry, or related field. Candidate must have experience in protein over-expression, purification, and characterization. Successful candidate must be able to work as a member of a research team and be an effective mentor of undergraduate and graduate students. Lastly, the successful candidate must have excellent oral and written English skills and will assist in the writing of manuscripts and grant proposals.
Successful candidate would have experience in enzyme kinetics (steady-state, stopped-flow, and rapid freeze quench, data analysis), site-directed mutagenesis, and biophysical (EPR, NMR, EXAFS, UV-Vis, ICP, etc.) methods.
