Assistant/Associate Professor, Curriculum and Cultural Studies


Teaching graduate courses in curriculum and cultural studies, with issues and topics addressed including curriculum theory, critical youth studies, social justice in education, multicultural education, and research. Advising master's and doctoral students and serving on student committees.  Mentoring graduate students, with a particular focus on serving students from under-represented populations. Assisting with program development and administration. Participating in university service.  Conducting high quality research that contributes to the theory and practice of inclusive, engaging learning environments for all students. 

Minimum Qualifications

An earned doctorate in Curriculum & Instruction, Cultural Studies in Education, Educational Studies, or a related field, by time of appointment.  Evidence of excellent teaching potential as demonstrated through course evaluations, example syllabi, and/or teaching philosophy statement. Evidence of established scholarly agenda, for associate rank (evaluated by publication in high quality journals and other outlets); or, evidence of emerging scholarly agenda, for assistant rank (evaluated by scholarly works in progress or under review).  Knowledge of or experience with multicultural populations

Preferred Qualifications

Strong candidates will have experience with critical approaches to curriculum, pedagogy, and education that emphasizes one or more of the following areas: critical race studies; disability studies; lgbtq studies; transnational or comparative education. Strong candidates will have experience in or exposure to P-12 education, experience with online or hybrid teaching, and experience in securing external funding to support research and programming.
